The End of Facebook
If you had any doubts about “both sides” types, Facebook ignored 455 reports against the Kenosha page that ended with two deaths and the loss of an arm. At the same time, they were disappearing anarchist pages, groups, accounts, and media.
Facebook chose a side and that side is Fascism. I suggest if you have community groups, form Discord channels now and get everyone the invite link before your group disappears or you get permazucced. Get friends your Signal number so they can reach you post-FB. Get any organizing groups moved to Signal loops or Keybase. Use the “Download my data” feature of Facebook to get a big ZIP file of your posts, friend’s list, media so you don’t lose all that.
It’s also worth considering renting your own dreamhost server or hosting account so you can turn up and manage your own WordPress blogs or PHPBB boards or whatever.
Keep in mind that Medium is at least as far along as FB on that path — it isn’t even a good platform for callouts/accountability anymore. Thus, WordPress. Here’s mine.
